US President Donald Trump and Seventh Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village Naruto Uzumaki are two different sorts of leaders born from different types of circumstances, but you’d be hard-pressed to suss out who’s the fictional one if a recent AI-generated video of Trump is to be believed.
Over on Truth Social, Trump on Saturday, June 6, posted an artificial intelligence-produced video of himself being adored by various nations and nationalities. In the short Japanese segment of the video, with “I love Donald, Donald Trump” blaring in the background, Trump appears onscreen in the familiar jumpsuit of Naruto Uzumaki, doing the fictional ninja’s famous kage bunshin, or shadow cloning technique.
Posing as famous people is not an unfamiliar look for Trump, as he had already likened himself to a doctor-like Christ figure previously. But inasmuch as Christians hate the comparison between Trump and Jesus, you cannot expect fans of a beloved Japanese cultural phenomenon to not raise an eyebrow at the sight of Donald Naruto-Trumping on social media, or not alluding to the somewhat blatant copyright infringement.
There is another reason why Trump’s short stint as Naruto stings, however, and that’s because Naruto and Trump are wildly different character types, and implying Trump is a Naruto figure is completely incongruent.
Naruto starts off shunned by his village by virtue of hosting a malevolent demonic fox inside of him, and seeks attention in his youth by being rambunctious and trouble-seeking until he is trained by his elders to better understand himself and his circumstances. While flawed, Naruto struggles and tries to make up for his flaws, with his own use of the shadow-cloning technique coming as the result of harnessing the demonic fox inside his body.
Through many growth events in his life, Naruto becomes the leader of that same village, beloved and respected by his peers as he guides his village through a time of postwar peace.
Donald Trump seems to be stuck in the childhood phase of troublemaking — even without a malevolent fox demon hiding inside him. A different sort of leader, Trump has started or exacerbated wars, and backtracks or lies when needed to suit his fancy.
As an NBC News video showed, Trump also storms out of uncomfortable conversations and attacks his detractors constantly.
Trump is not, in comparison to Naruto, an exemplary leader.
If there’s one key takeaway from all these, it’s this: Trump can’t do a shadow-cloning technique, since he’s not an adept fictional ninja, but a stunted manchild reminiscent of Naruto as a kid. – Rappler.com
