Fadhirul Musa pleaded not guilty to possessing 19.8g of methamphetamine when he was charged before magistrate Rais Imran Hamid at the Kota Bharu magistrates’ court today.
PETALING JAYA: A police officer was charged at the Kota Bharu magistrates’ court today with possessing 19.8g of methamphetamine in the lock-up of the Kota Bharu court complex last week.
Fadhirul Musa, 38, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read before magistrate Rais Imran Hamid, Buletin TV3 reported.
He was charged under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, punishable under Section 39A(1) of the same Act, which provides for a prison sentence of up to five years and up to nine strokes of the rotan upon conviction.
The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Nadzir Abdullah while the accused was represented by lawyers Azrizal Hamzi and Husni Mubarak Ghazali.
Nadzir proposed bail of RM5,000 with one surety.
Azrizal, in mitigation, requested minimum bail, stating that his client has to support his wife and four school-going children.
The court then set bail at RM3,500 with one surety and fixed 30 July for mention.
