Animal welfare groups bring humane stray dog management drive to Seremban

KUALA LUMPUR, June 20 — Animal welfare movement Execute AWA has reportedly expanded its national #ProjekTogetherBoleh 2.0 programme to Seremban, Negri Sembilan, as part of efforts to promote more humane and systematic stray animal management.

The Star reported that the programme was carried out at Millennia Village and nearby areas with local NGOs NS Happy Paws and FurryKids SafeHaven, covering both sheltered and free-roaming stray dogs.

Execute AWA founder Sue Ann Kong said the initiative supports a more strategic approach based on field operations, data collection, vaccination and long-term sterilisation, including the trap-neuter-vaccinate-return/rehome-manage model.

“A total of 29 dogs were spayed and neutered, nine successfully vaccinated and 13 dogs microchipped,” she was quoted as saying.

Kong said the programme also involved Millennia Village as a corporate ally, with support from the Negri Sembilan Information Department, SPCA Selangor and SPCA Ipoh.

SPCA Ipoh sponsored 50 microchips and a reader, with Kong saying microchipping helps authorities track sterilised and vaccinated animals, avoid repeated capture and improve disease control.

Millennia Village director of sustainability Gabriel Hii said the partnership showed how hospitality operators, NGOs and communities could turn sustainability into practical and measurable impact.

NS Happy Paws chairman Jude Lazaroo said Malaysia’s stray animal issue could not be solved by any single organisation, authority or community, and required sustained cooperation from all stakeholders.
