LOS ANGELES, USA – Fresh off a historic performance at the 2026 Coachella Music Festival, BINI marked another milestone as the P-pop group received the Global Force Award at the 2026 Billboard Women in Music event at the Hollywood Palladium on Wednesday, April 29 (Thursday, April 30, Manila time).
“We hope that we also inspire young girls watching this and they realize that their dreams are also valid no matter where they come from,” said Jhoanna, the leader of the all-female group that includes Mikha, Aiah, Maloi, Stacey, Colet, Gwen, and Sheena.
“Standing here tonight is something we really could only dream about,” said Colet, who was the first to speak on stage during BINI’s acceptance speech.
“We are deeply honored to be given a chance to represent Filipino music and artists back home. This is not just a milestone for us but also a responsibility we carry with so much pride. We also want to acknowledge all our co-awardees tonight who we look up to.”
Among the winners were some of the leading women in music bannered by Women of the Year EJae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami, the singers behind the fictional K-pop girl group Huntrix in the Netflix animation hit Kpop Demon Hunters.
Another honoree familiar to Filipinos was Thalia, who received the Icon Award from actress Eva Longoria. After breaking out in the ‘90s with many popular Mexican telenovelas, Thalia established herself further as one of the sought-after Mexican singers in the US.
BINI and Thalia even had an encounter backstage.
BINI accepted the award from model and actress Cara Delevingne, who described the Filipinas’ career as “quite a journey” as they “debuted during the pandemic at a time when connection had to travel through Wi-Fi, through live streams, comments and choreography learned at home.”
“Their combination of sweetness, sparkle and sisterhood broke through the screens,” added Delevingne.
“For seven straight weeks, the group had seven songs charting on the Billboard Philippines Hot 100. BINI’s dedicated fans known as Blooms consistently show up for them, from packing the massive Philippine Arena this past December to cheering them at their recent Coachella debut where they made history as the first all-Filipino girl group to perform at the festival.”
BINI is now gearing up for its Signals World Tour 2026, starting in Manila on June 20-21 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena and Cebu on July 11, before heading to cities in North America, Europe, and Asia. – Rappler.com
