TLDR

  • Anthropic launched expanded legal tools for Claude, adding 12 new legal practice plug-ins for law firms and corporate counsel
  • Thomson Reuters integrated its CoCounsel AI platform and Westlaw database directly into Claude
  • Anthropic also launched Claude for Small Business, connecting Claude to QuickBooks, DocuSign, PayPal, and Microsoft 365
  • Anthropic’s 2026 revenue run rate has climbed above $30 billion, up from $9 billion last year
  • CEO Dario Amodei warned some SaaS companies could go bankrupt if they fail to adapt to the AI shift

Anthropic is moving fast to embed its Claude AI across professional industries. In the past week, the company has launched tools aimed at lawyers, financial services firms, and now small business owners.

On Tuesday, Anthropic rolled out an expanded legal product. It gives Claude users access to tools from Thomson Reuters, Harvey, Box, Everlaw, and DocuSign. The release includes 12 new plug-ins covering areas like commercial counsel, employment law, litigation support, and a tool built for law students.

Thomson Reuters confirmed it integrated its CoCounsel AI platform and its Westlaw Primary Law database into Claude. CoCounsel is described as offering “fiduciary grade” legal research tools. Thomson Reuters’ Chief Technology Officer Joel Hron said the integration is designed to make CoCounsel available wherever lawyers are working.

Hron was clear that the Claude integration does not replace the CoCounsel platform or give users standalone access to its full content system.

Mark Pike, associate general counsel at Anthropic, said the legal sector is seeing strong uptake of AI tools. A recent webinar on how legal teams use Claude drew over 20,000 registrations.

Claude for Small Business

The day after the legal launch, Anthropic announced Claude for Small Business. The product lets small business owners turn on Claude inside apps they already use. These include Intuit’s QuickBooks, DocuSign, PayPal, and Microsoft 365.

Anthropic says the tool can help with tasks like payroll, bookkeeping, business insights, and trend spotting. Anthropic president Daniela Amodei said small businesses make up nearly half the American economy but have historically lacked access to enterprise-level resources.

These launches are part of a broader push into the enterprise software market. Anthropic is preparing for a potential IPO later this year. Rival OpenAI is also reported to be eyeing a public offering in 2026.

Pressure on Software Stocks

Anthropic’s expansion is creating pressure across the software sector. Stocks including Salesforce, ServiceNow, Intuit, DocuSign, and Box have declined both year to date and over the past 12 months.

Anthropic’s revenue run rate crossed $30 billion in 2026, up from $9 billion last year. The number of companies spending $1 million annually with Anthropic doubled from 500 to more than 1,000 in just two months.

The company says its tools are built to work alongside existing software, not just replace it. But the pace of its expansion is putting pressure on legacy software vendors to adapt quickly.
