The government began rolling out a P10-per-liter fuel subsidy for jeepney and UV Express drivers on Tuesday, April 14, in response to rising fuel costs driven by tensions in the Middle East.
The subsidy is capped at 150 liters per week per beneficiary.
As of writing, the program is available only at selected gas stations in Metro Manila. However, it is expected to expand to other parts of the country in the coming weeks, according to Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board Chairman Vigor Mendoza III.
The discounted fuel may be availed of exclusively at accredited gasoline stations monitored by the Department of Energy.
The program is set to run for three months, or until July 2026. Any extension will depend on the availability of additional funding.
