Gemini Adds Zcash to Its Card Program With ZEC Cashback Incentives

  • Gemini launched a Zcash Edition of its credit card, enabling holders to choose ZEC as the automatic crypto cashback reward.
  • The card has no annual fee and pays up to 4% back on qualifying purchases, with rewards deposited to Gemini accounts in ZEC.

Gemini has expanded its crypto rewards card lineup by introducing the Gemini Credit Card Zcash Edition, giving eligible U.S. customers the option to earn rewards in Zcash (ZEC) on everyday spending. The release is a new branded design within the existing Gemini Credit Card program, adding ZEC to the menu of tokens that cardholders can choose for automatic rewards deposits.

The Zcash Edition follows earlier themed versions tied to other major digital assets and uses the same rewards mechanics that let cardholders select from a list of supported cryptocurrencies for payouts. The exchange has said ZEC is among the top ten reward choices selected by its cardholders, and the program supports rewards across more than 50 crypto assets.

Gemini co-founder Tyler Winklevoss mentioned the Zcash card in a social media post during the launch week. The firm also pointed to its longer relationship with the project, including prior support for Zcash features such as unified addresses on its platform.

Gemini Card Rewards Structure and Zcash Selection

The Gemini Credit Card Zcash Edition carries no annual fee and no foreign transaction fees, and it automatically deposits earned crypto rewards into a cardholder’s account. The exchange lists reward rates of up to 4% back on gas at the pump, electric vehicle charging, transit, and rideshare on up to $300 in monthly spend in that category.

Users can also get 3% back on dining, 2% back on groceries, and 1% back on other qualifying purchases. Cardholders can set ZEC as the rewards asset, so cash back is paid in Zcash.

A Gemini representative said that customers who opted to receive and hold rewards in ZEC for at least one year saw gains of more than 900% in the value of those holdings. The report did not provide a detailed methodology, and the figure was presented as an observation tied to historical ZEC price movement during that holding period.

The card rollout arrives as Gemini continues work with partners on payment settlement and card infrastructure. In November, the exchange and card issuer WebBank explored Ripple’s dollar-backed stablecoin RLUSD for settlement of fiat credit card transactions, alongside Ripple and Mastercard.

Additionally, CNF recently reported Gemini’s Solana Edition Credit Card, which lets users earn SOL rewards on eligible purchases, enables auto staking for yields up to 6.77%, and provides access to Vault Rewards offers of up to 10% back with select merchants.

At the time of writing, Zcash was trading at $362, down 5% in the last 24 hours, with a market cap of $5.99 billion and 24 hour trading volume of about $412.4 million.

The post Franklin Templeton CEO Dismisses 50bps Rate Cut Ahead FOMC appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Franklin Templeton CEO Jenny Johnson has weighed in on whether the Federal Reserve should make a 25 basis points (bps) Fed rate cut or 50 bps cut. This comes ahead of the Fed decision today at today’s FOMC meeting, with the market pricing in a 25 bps cut. Bitcoin and the broader crypto market are currently trading flat ahead of the rate cut decision. Franklin Templeton CEO Weighs In On Potential FOMC Decision In a CNBC interview, Jenny Johnson said that she expects the Fed to make a 25 bps cut today instead of a 50 bps cut. She acknowledged the jobs data, which suggested that the labor market is weakening. However, she noted that this data is backward-looking, indicating that it doesn’t show the current state of the economy. She alluded to the wage growth, which she remarked is an indication of a robust labor market. She added that retail sales are up and that consumers are still spending, despite inflation being sticky at 3%, which makes a case for why the FOMC should opt against a 50-basis-point Fed rate cut. In line with this, the Franklin Templeton CEO said that she would go with a 25 bps rate cut if she were Jerome Powell. She remarked that the Fed still has the October and December FOMC meetings to make further cuts if the incoming data warrants it. Johnson also asserted that the data show a robust economy. However, she noted that there can’t be an argument for no Fed rate cut since Powell already signaled at Jackson Hole that they were likely to lower interest rates at this meeting due to concerns over a weakening labor market. Notably, her comment comes as experts argue for both sides on why the Fed should make a 25 bps cut or…
