As tensions rise again in the Middle East, Iranian media has made striking allegations that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) played a role in attacks on Iranian territory.
The Iranian news agency Mehr claimed that the UAE had launched an attack on Iran, and reported hearing explosions in the southern city of Bandar Abbas.
According to the Iran-based Tasnim News Agency, numerous explosions heard in Bandar Abbas were caused by air defense systems intercepting two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). It was reported that Iranian air defense elements were activated and the alert level was raised along the coastline.

Ali Khazrian, a member of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security Committee, also made a strong statement, saying, “The Islamic Republic no longer considers the United Arab Emirates a neighboring country.”
Khazrian also asserted that there were serious suspicions that Emirati warplanes had directly attacked Iranian territory while flying their national flags. The Iranian official stated that the details of the incident were being investigated and that security agencies were on high alert.
