K-pop boy group Ateez tops Billboard 200 again as ‘Golden Hour: Part. 5’ sets sales record

SEOUL, July 6 — K-pop boy group Ateez has achieved its third No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 with its latest album Golden Hour: Part. 5.

The album topped the Billboard 200 ahead of Olivia Rodrigo’s You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love and Drake’s Iceman, according to a chart preview released yesterday. 

“It marks the group’s third No. 1 on the chart, following The World Ep. Final: Will in 2023 and Golden Hour: Part. 2 in 2024,” the Billboard said, noting Ateez has now collected nine top‑10 albums since 2022.

The music magazine added that Golden Hour: Part. 5 earned 228,000 equivalent album units during the latest tracking period, with 223,000 coming from album sales, both figures the highest in the group’s career.

The Billboard 200 tracks the week’s most popular albums in the United States, based on equivalent units that combine physical and digital sales, streaming activity and digital track downloads.

Released on June 26, the five‑track album includes Bad, Mamacita and Toxin, and depicts Ateez embracing instinct and sensation with playful energy.

In South Korea, the album set a new first‑week sales record for the group by selling more than 1.88 million copies, according to album sales tracker Hanteo Chart.

Ateez, formed in 2018 under KQ Entertainment, has built a strong international following with energetic performances and concept‑driven releases, becoming one of the leading K‑pop acts of the 2020s.
