The security researcher who recently uncovered a critical vulnerability in Zcash is now setting his sights on Monero and other privacy-focused cryptocurrencies.

Taylor Hornby, a security engineer at Shielded Labs, confirmed on X that Monero had been added to his audit queue after community members asked whether he planned to investigate other privacy coins.

The announcement comes just days after Hornby helped identify a flaw in Zcash's Orchard privacy pool that could have allowed attackers to create counterfeit ZEC tokens without detection if left unpatched.

Hornby's findings attracted widespread attention because of the potential severity of the exploit.

According to disclosures from Shielded Labs and comments from Zcash founder Zooko Wilcox, the vulnerability had existed since the Orchard upgrade launched in 2022.
