Trump-voting podcaster baffled by president's PR stunt: 'What kind of delusional reality?'

A Trump-voting podcaster was baffled by the president's public relations stunt, where he had a grandmother deliver a DoorDash order to the White House to hawk his "no tax on tips" policy.

On Monday, Trump had a grandmother deliver a DoorDash order so he could tell the press about the benefits of his tax policy ahead of Tax Day. Andrew Schulz, a comedian and host of the podcast "Andrew Schulz's Flagrant with Akaash Singh," said on Wednesday's episode that the stunt was confusing, and showed the president is not focused on deeper economic issues.

"Don't we want to live in a country where grandmas don't have to work Door Dash, where grandmas get to be retired, and take the time it takes to get like what?" Schulz said. "What kind of delusional reality are we living in where he's parading around the grandma that's working DoorDash so she can afford to pay her husband's cancer bills, and he's like, 'See, we're not doing tips.' There's a whole other issue at hand that we need to focus on."

Schulz's comments reflect the divide between the podcasting world, which helped deliver Trump to the White House in 2024, and the president himself. Some Trump-supporting comedians like Joe Rogan have since recanted their support for Trump since he launched the war in Iran in late February.
