Singapore dengue cases climb to 119 in peak season, agency warns of rising transmission risk
SINGAPORE, June 16 — Singapore recorded 119 dengue cases in the week ended June 13, up 39 cases from the previous week, the National Environment Agency (NEA) said.
According to data provided by the Ministry of Health’s Communicable Diseases Division and published on the NEA website, the new cases mark the highest weekly figure reported so far in 2026.
As of June 15, a total of 12 active dengue clusters were reported, with four classified under red alert, NEA said.
The agency urged the public to remain vigilant and eradicate mosquito breeding sources to minimise the risk of dengue transmission in the community, noting that Singapore has entered the traditional peak dengue season, which runs from May to October.
“Our tropical climate and high population density create ideal conditions for mosquitoes to thrive year-round, with the traditional peak period with warmer temperatures seeing accelerated mosquito development and virus multiplication,” NEA said. — Bernama
