BlackRock BUIDL fund hits $100M dividends milestone. Securitize reports on-chain payouts from tokenized Treasuries. Discover why institutions are embracing this blockchain innovation for liquidity and yields today.

What is BlackRock’s BUIDL Tokenized Money Market Fund?

BlackRock’s BUIDL tokenized money market fund represents a pioneering blockchain-based investment vehicle that tokenizes traditional short-term, U.S. dollar-denominated assets like Treasury bills, repurchase agreements, and cash equivalents. Launched in March 2024 on Ethereum, it enables institutional investors to earn yields while maintaining liquidity through on-chain token purchases and dividend distributions. Securitize serves as the issuer, transfer agent, and tokenization partner, facilitating seamless blockchain operations.

How Has BlackRock BUIDL Achieved $100 Million in Dividends?

Securitize announced on December 29 that BUIDL distributed roughly $100 million in dividends, reflecting actual Treasury yields delivered directly on-chain to token holders. This lifetime total since inception demonstrates the fund’s scalability, replicating traditional money market features with blockchain advantages like instant settlements, transparent ownership, and programmable payouts. Sources close to the matter emphasize this as a key validation of tokenized securities’ real-world viability, attracting major asset managers.

Initially exclusive to Ethereum, BUIDL expanded to Solana, Aptos, Avalanche, and Optimism, enhancing interoperability and investor reach. Investors acquire BUIDL tokens pegged to the U.S. dollar, receiving automated dividend payments from underlying assets. This model preserves liquidity, allowing institutions to profit without sacrificing accessibility, as confirmed by industry observers.

The fund’s assets under management exceeded $2 billion earlier this year, cementing tokenized money market funds as a burgeoning segment in the on-chain real-world asset (RWA) market. Analysts attribute this to superior efficiency over conventional accounts, combining familiar cash-like returns with blockchain speed and transparency.
