As President Donald Trump watches his approval ratings plummet amidst an unpopular war and failing economy, he’s not just losing fair-weather swing voters, but some of his most dedicated backers.

“I’ve been loyal to Trump since the very start, even before he announced his candidacy,” said far-right pundit Alex Jones on Wednesday. “I am sick to my stomach and horrified at the change in Trump. Just wounded, sad, and upset.”

Different ex-Trump supporters have different reasons for turning away from the president, and for Jones, it involved disappointment over failed campaign promises, the war, and the mishandling of the Epstein files.

“Trump is moving away from his main mission,” said Jones. “On the current trajectory, he’ll be Barack Obama in a few months if he continues to slide in policy, turning him into a globalist democrat. We’re pretty horrified around here.”

According to Jones, the consequences of Trump’s war on Iran have been too abundant to ignore, from skyrocketing gas and fertilizer prices to the possibility that flights will be canceled due to a lack of jet fuel. And now talk of expanding the conflict in Iran to include ground combat is a bridge too far.

“We need a repudiation of boots on the ground,” Jones insisted. “They’re pushing it everywhere, Fox, you name it. You do not want a ground war in Iran.”

Jones went on to explain that he’s tired of being told “that being loyal to Trump and loyal to MAGA and being a good American means supporting whatever the neocons want, and ground war with the Iranians, and that nightmare. No, that’s not what we voted for, and they want us to sit down and shut up, or they’ll attack you and call you a traitor.”

The Epstein situation has caused similar frustration. Earlier this year when it emerged that Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick had strong ties to the infamous sex trafficker, according to Jones, Trump should have removed him from office. But instead, Lutnick “lied and Trump defended him.”

Jones’s break with Trump comes at a moment when the president is losing support from every bloc, including voters over 65 and white, uneducated males — two of his most loyal followings. Trump has also been grappling with waning support among once-devoted far-right influencers like Matt Walsh, Tucker Carlson, and Candace Owens, all of whom have been disappointed by the war on Iran and the Epstein scandals.

“Whether it’s mental exhaustion or who’s around him or whatever it is,” said Jones, “he's making more and more big mistakes.”

Potential U.S. Recession Could Buy Japan More Time as It Faces Debt Implosion, Says Brookings Economist Robin Brooks

Potential U.S. Recession Could Buy Japan More Time as It Faces Debt Implosion, Says Brookings Economist Robin Brooks

The post Potential U.S. Recession Could Buy Japan More Time as It Faces Debt Implosion, Says Brookings Economist Robin Brooks appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. While much of the attention from the crypto and traditional markets remains on the U.S., a recent analysis by a leading economist suggests it’s time to look east. Japan is teetering on the edge of a debt crisis, but a potential recession in the U.S. could provide the land of the rising sun a temporary window of relief, according to Robin Brooks, senior fellow in the Global Economy and Development program at the Brookings Institution. Japan’s debt-to-GDP is a problem For years, Japan has held the highest public debt-to-GDP ratio among advanced economies, consistently hovering above 200%. However, in the post-COVID era marked by massive fiscal spending, investors’ tolerance for such high debt levels has waned. To complicate matters, Japan’s inflation, as measured by the consumer price index (CPI), has surged since mid-2022, bringing inflation rates up to levels not seen since the 1980s. The trend is consistent with the sticky price pressures worldwide. The elevated inflation has pushed government bond yields higher and increased the cost of additional fiscal borrowing. These combined pressures have thrust Japan’s staggering debt-to-GDP ratio of around 240% into the spotlight, effectively boxing the government into a difficult position. Brooks put it best in his latest Substack post: “The bottom line is that exceptionally high government debt is putting Japan in a terrible bind. If Japan sticks with low interest rates, it risks further Yen depreciation, which could cause inflation to run out of control. If it anchors the Yen by allowing yields to rise further, this could put Japan’s debt sustainability at risk.” “This catch-22 means a debt crisis is much closer than people think,” he added. Growing debt concerns could drive investors to alternative financial escape valves such as cryptocurrencies, mainly stablecoins. Japanese startup JPYC is planning to issue the first stablecoin pegged…
