A USDT APR calculator is most useful when it answers the question ordinary headline rates cannot: what does my entire balance actually earn?

This guide gives you the formulas and worked examples needed to calculate effective APR across tiered rates, variable balances and different holding periods.

Summary

For a single-rate product:

Annualized reward = Balance × APR

For a tiered product:

Annualized reward = Sum of (Balance in each tier × Tier APR)

Then:

Effective APR = Total annualized reward ÷ Total balance

This lets you compare a tiered offer with a full-balance offer on equal terms.

MEXC Earn Plus is designed to simplify this calculation for larger users because the current Earn Plus FAQ states that the flexible product has no maximum subscription limit.

Calculator 1: One APR Across the Whole Balance

If 25,000 USDT receives 4% APR:

25,000 × 4% = 1,000 USDT annualized

Simple 30-day estimate:

25,000 × 4% × 30 ÷ 365 = 82.19 USDT

This is the easiest structure to model because every USDT uses the same rate.

Calculator 2: Two-Tier APR

Suppose the first 1,000 USDT earns 8% and everything above 1,000 earns 2%.

For 25,000 USDT:

  • 1,000 × 8% = 80 USDT;

  • 24,000 × 2% = 480 USDT;

  • annualized reward = 560 USDT;

  • effective APR = 560 ÷ 25,000 = 2.24%.

The product can advertise 8% while the user earns an effective 2.24% on the full balance.

Calculator 3: Three-Tier APR

Suppose a product uses:

TierAPR
0–500 USDT12%
500–5,000 USDT5%
Above 5,000 USDT1.5%

For 20,000 USDT:

  • 500 × 12% = 60;

  • 4,500 × 5% = 225;

  • 15,000 × 1.5% = 225;

  • total annualized reward = 510 USDT;

  • effective APR = 2.55%.

Again, the maximum rate is not the portfolio rate.

Calculator 4: Compare Two Products on 100,000 USDT

Product A:

  • 10% on first 500;

  • 2% above 500.

Product B:

  • 4% on the full balance.

ProductAnnualized rewardEffective APR
A2,040 USDT2.04%
B4,000 USDT4.00%

The higher headline APR loses because the eligible balance is too small.

Calculator 5: Variable APR Over Time

If the APR changes, calculate each period separately.

Example: 30,000 USDT held for 60 days.

  • first 30 days at 5%;

  • next 30 days at 3.5%.

Simple estimate:

  • first period: 30,000 × 5% × 30/365 = 123.29 USDT;

  • second period: 30,000 × 3.5% × 30/365 = 86.30 USDT;

  • total = 209.59 USDT.

This is more realistic than pretending the first day's rate lasted for the whole 60-day period.

How Hourly Balance Changes Affect Earn Plus

MEXC states in its official FAQ that interest for the current flexible Earn Plus product starts from the hour after subscription, accrues hourly and is distributed daily.

If you subscribe 50,000 USDT and later redeem 10,000 USDT, the interest-bearing balance adjusts from the next accrual hour. That means a precise realized-return calculator should ideally use time-weighted balances rather than a single month-end snapshot.

A practical approximation is:

Realized return = Total interest received ÷ Average invested balance

How to Build a Spreadsheet Calculator

You only need five columns:

ColumnInput
ABalance tier start
BBalance tier end
CAPR
DAmount of your balance in that tier
EAnnualized reward = C × D

Sum column E, then divide by total balance to get effective APR.

For a variable-rate history, add a date/time column and calculate each rate period separately.

Why a Calculator Is Better Than a “Top APR” Table

A ranking table tells everyone the same story. A calculator tells you what happens to your money.

That matters because:

  • small and large balances behave differently under tiers;

  • some products have subscription limits;

  • fixed and flexible products have different time assumptions;

  • rates can change;

  • liquidity can matter more than a small APR edge.

MEXC's current Earn Plus structure reduces one of those variables because there is no maximum subscription limit for the flexible product.

FAQ

What is effective APR?

It is the annualized return across your full balance after accounting for all tiers or rate components.

How do I calculate effective APR on a tiered product?

Calculate annualized reward for each tier, add the rewards, then divide by the total balance.

Can I use APR ÷ 365 for a daily estimate?

Yes for a simple estimate. Actual product calculations can use different accrual timing, balance snapshots or compounding rules.

How does MEXC Earn Plus accrue interest?

MEXC states that the current flexible product accrues interest hourly beginning from the hour after subscription and distributes it daily.

Why is average balance useful?

If you frequently subscribe or redeem, average balance gives a more realistic denominator for realized return than your starting or ending balance alone.
